The competition will be a 2 day event shot in the Double Round format where archers will shoot 72 arrows each day at the distances designated by World Archery for age class and bow type (see below). This is the same format that is seen in USA Archery JOAD and Target Nationals. But that's not all - the excitement doesn't end there! Archers are also invited to compete for the grand trophy in head-to-head matches.
TIME
Sat - Practice will begin at 9:00AM and Scoring will begin at 9:30AM
Sun - Practice will begin at 8:00AM and Scoring will begin at 8:30AM
Head-to-Head matches will begin following the conclusion of the Awards ceremony for rounds (@2:00 PM)

REGISTRATION CATEGORIES
YOUTH AGE CLASSES:
Participants may compete as:
“U13” (previously known as Bowman) through the calendar year of their 12th birthday.
“U15” (previously known as Cub) through the calendar year of their 14th birthday.
“U18” (previously known as Cadet) through the calendar year of their 17th birthday.
“U21” (previously known as Junior) through the calendar year of their 20th birthday.
SENIOR AND MASTER AGE CLASSES:
Participants may compete as:
“Senior” at any age.
“50+” (previously known as Master 50) when the competition takes place in the year of their 50th birthday and thereafter.
“60+” (previously known as Master 60) when the competition takes place in the year of their 60th birthday and thereafter.
“70+” (previously known as Master 70) when the competition takes place in the year of their 70th birthday and thereafter.
Bow divisions include Barebow, Recurve, Compound Limited, and Compound Unlimited
Because the Double Arrow 72 Round event is sanctioned by USA Archery, all competitors must have a USA Archery membership. Participants who do not have a regular USA Archery membership may purchases a Temporary USA Archery membership for a single event at https://www.usarchery.org/memberships/become-a-member/temporary-membership.

Format: Will involve a 2 day event. Awards for the double 72 arrow round once all scores from the 2 day 72 arrow rounds have been calculated.
The Compound and Fixed Pin round will be shot using 80cm target faces. The Recurve and Barebow rounds will use 122cm targets

Once the award ceremony for the double 72 round has ended, all archers will be condensed into the following combined age divisions of Compound, Recurve, or Barebow to compete for the Virginia Commonwealth Open Trophy:
Compound U15 (40M) - U13 who wish to compete may do so in this division but will be required to shoot at 40M
Compound U18, U21, Senior and 50+ (50M)
Recurve U18, 50+ (60M)
Recurve U21, Senior (70M)
Barebow U13 and U15 (30M)
Barebow U18, U21, Senior and 50+ (50M)
